Girl Guiding Pembrokeshire held a Duck Race this morning at Riverside, Haverfordwest.

Well attended – Marty DUCK was a crowd pleaser – and it was delightful to see lots of beaming faces cheering on their ducks!

It was our first experience of a Duck Race…. NOW I get it…. (I wondered who on earth raced ducks and could only imagine time trials and training schedules!) We’d like another one SOON, please…. great fun.

The Pembrokeshire County Show is definitely an event that overflows with talented people. From all corners, all walks of life, this gathering is a marvellous showcase of how a community comes together in what can surely be seen as a celebration of life and, of course, rural life in particular.

Entertainment from the Ukelele Pirates and a fun dog show with agility classes were also on offer.

As the sunshine returned, the crowds poured into Haverfordwest Showground for the third and final day of the 2017 Pembrokeshire County Show. Getting around was no problem in stout shoes or wellies and the main paths were clear, but the arenas had become waterlogged overnight and this, unfortunately, meant that the Grand Parades of livestock could not go ahead and the motorbike display team’s show was cancelled, too.

Oh yes! Pembrokeshire County Show is a dog-friendly day out.

On the first day of the 2017 show the sun came out after some torrential rain the day before – a few issues for parking with parts under water and some muddy patches, but otherwise all set for a grand day out. Dogs on leads with responsible owners equipped with pooh bags are made very welcome. We decided to take our 2-year-old Border Collie, Cwtch, to see how she got on!
