2017 has been hailed as the Year of Legends in Wales and the great and magnificent tales and legends of Wales will be celebrated and remembered across the land. For the folklore and tales of Pembrokeshire, local author, Dr Brian John, will be sharing his collection of Pembrokeshire Tales for us to enjoy on PembrokeshireLifeOnline.

Story telling is and has always been such an important part of the human condition. Most of us spend our lives trying hard to live our best story and, with the stories we tell ourselves and those we choose to share we endeavour to influence our worlds. In what we say, with words and deeds; art, music, dance, fashion and lifestyle, choices we make to be present or absent, the extent to which we give or take. Our stories abound.

Now a Site of Special Scientific Interest –  the disused airfield of St Davids provides a very unusual and fascinating place to walk, ride or run. With panoramic views around the peninsula, this can be a wonderful place to enjoy the ever-changing skies of Pembrokeshire. With accessible paths and plenty of variety, this part of the National Park is ideal for all ages and abilities and is very popular with dog-walkers.

The award-winning Blue Flag surfing beach at Whitesands is one of the most famous in Wales and, by Pembrokeshire standards, can get quite busy in the summer. There are seasonal car park charges and it can often be popular enough to use the two overflow parking fields.

Being so close to the tiny city of St. David’s and renowned for the fabulous surf, Whitesands is a favoured destination of beach-lovers from all over the world. With a cafe, toilets and a lifeguard, this stunning location is loved by families, walkers and serious watersports enthusiasts alike.
